JANUARY 2023

LIFE | LOVE | LOSS
“We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives…not looking for flaws, but for potential.”
-Ellen Goodman
POTENTIAL
“Our potential lies between what is and what could be.”
- Kim Butler
The New Year is upon us. The Tupperware and exercise equipment ads will be coming in mass. If your personal in-box is anything like mine after holiday shopping, you will need to devote some time to unsubscribing!
When a new year starts, we hear and see lots of things about fresh starts, new pages in the chapters of our lives. The end of the year Joey died wrecked me hard. I was so upset to leave a time when he was here, when he was alive, laughing, making wise cracks, attending family functions, where his seat at the table wasn’t empty. I wanted to hold on to the year that he lived with all my might. I knew all the rest would never have him again. The clock striking midnight was like an anvil to my mind and heart.
Now as I face a new year, I am able to see its potential. I can reflect clearly on the time that has passed and create new visions for what will come. I can embrace the potential for learning and growth that comes from an open mind and willing heart. I always say, “You don’t get what you don’t ask for”.
So, what will you ask of 2023?
What will answer your heart’s desire, or move the needle forward on your goals or directives?
How can you ‘unsubscribe’ from the things or people in your life that are bringing you down or blocking your clear path forward?
What cracks do you have in your life that need to be patched? Is there open honest conversation to be had or letters to be written and burned?
Wherever you are on your path, choose peace, look for light, laugh! I invite you to create a path for the new year that will make your heart sing when you stand yet again at the door of another year gone by.
Now, go clean out a drawer, the freezer, your in-box letting the old things go so you have room for all the new!
All my best,
Genna
