LIFE | LOVE | LOSS
“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”
-Charles Dickens
“The only cure for grief is to grieve.”
-Earl Grollman
OPEN SPACES
“the places in our heart where the world took bites out of us may never fully heal and will likely become open spaces
be careful to not fill them with just anything or anyone
your wounds aren’t supposed to become attics for you to hoard unnecessary junk
these holes in our hearts are holy sites and we should treat them as such
so when visiting your old wounds make sure to take your shoes off and turn off your cellphone
sit by candlelight and watch how the shadows tell the story of how brave you are
-to survive”
-John Roedel
This time of year, brings a yearning for light, for growth, renewal and more. I love the changing of the seasons and always marvel at the beauty of nature when the spring blooms erupt from the frozen earth. Isn’t it magical and glorious to think of all the time those bulbs spent in the dark and cold, being still under the frozen ground gathering what was needed so they could move upwards towards the light to bloom from the inside out sharing their beauty with the world?
We are not so different, you and I. There are times, seasons, years even in our lives that feel heavy and dark like a long winter. This can come from any number of challenges. Grief, pain, and loss being one of them. Physical illness, financial strain, loss of relationships, jobs, etc, can also be on the list. These times can put us through it testing us mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually.
How do you handle or process life during these challenges? Are you quiet like the bulb taking the time to gather what is needed so you can bloom again? Do you look for the light or is the shade where you feel more comfortable? There is no right answer here.
No matter the reason or season you find yourself in. If you are reading this thank you for making the time! I invite you to breathe deeply, do it again! Breathe in peace and breathe out any heaviness, sadness, anger, or strife. Allow yourself in this moment to find a little more light.
The spring solstice in March literally brings more light to the earth. How can you bring more light into your own mind and heart this month? Where can you shine some light to allow harmony and kindness to show up in your day-to-day experiences a little more?
Find that, seek ways to stretch towards lighter thoughts and feelings allowing some of the heaviness to take a seat next to you instead of inside you.
All my best,
Genna
