NOVEMBER 2025

“Gratitude changes the pangs of memory into a tranquil joy.”
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer
BEING THANKFUL
“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”
-Albert Schweitzer
Welcome November!
Here comes daylight savings, darker longer days when you think it’s bedtime then look and see it’s only 7:12 pm! The cold and increased darkness can take its toll on people’s minds and hearts. I have several close friends with seasonal depressive disorder. This time of year, is a real challenge for them. Please know yourself, your limits, your needs. Get a S.A.D. light, copy a cat and sit in a window to get some sunlight when able! Do the things you need to take in some extra light when the days have less of it.
I am a nature lover. I LOVE the changing seasons, the messages and lessons from the earth. I feel the deep call to let go as I watch the leaves falling off the trees. I am asking myself what is no longer needed in my life. What can I let go of? What outdated ideas or beliefs are no longer serving me well? I invite you to do the same.
As nature shows us it’s ok to slow down, let go, be still and rest I invite you to embrace this time of quiet darkness to go inward. To look within, see where you need to rest and restore things from the inside out. During the winter months the plants, trees and bulbs are refueling so they can be brilliant in the Spring, so can we!
We are also headed into the holidays. They can be full of joy, fun gatherings and joyful giving. They can also be hard, lonely and full of anxiety or trepidation for not knowing how to ‘be’ without someone important in your life who is now gone. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this!
What feels right? What do you want to do or not do? How do you want to remember and honor them? Choose that! You get to say. Remember NO is a complete sentence! You can just say no to anything and everything if that is what feels right for you this year. Get a good book, find the next great series, buy your favorite snacks and do what makes you feel happy!
Mental Health Moment:
“Anyone can show up when you’re happy. But the ones who stay by your side when your heart falls apart, they are your true friends.”
– Winnie the Pooh & Piglet
This month is all about slowing down, doing a little less, paying attention to your own needs a little more!
Then, when you have your self-care dialed in. Who can you reach out too? Who have you not checked on in a while? Who keeps circling through your mind?
Make some time to connect with them. Show up, drop by, call, write, text, be by their side so they know someone is thinking about them. That can be an added boost that someone might desperately need.
If you are able share a meal, pay it forward in line or at a restaurant. A little small act of paying for someone’s meal or drink without them even knowing who did it, is like a ray of sunshine on a dark day!
All my best,
Genna
